Bob Haro's Master BMX Bike of the 1980s

Bob Haro's Master, a freestyle bike with cutting edge design that revolutionized BMX, was the "Master" from Bob Haro. It was the iconic model of the mid 1980s. The Master was a frame that featured progressive geometry and bold graphics. It was built for the future of BMX. Whether riding flatland or freestyle, the master set the standard for cutting-edge design.

In the 1980s, Haro Bikes was the dominant brand of freestyle BMX bikes. Riders of the bikes won almost every sport title. These bikes were among the most popular of their era. FREESTYLIN’ Magazine published their first commercial in 1985. However, it wasn't until later that the company produced a series of freestyle bikes that would define a new era in the freestyle scene.

Haro Freestyler, and Master were the two first freestyle models on the market. Both models have a similar seat mast and head tube angle. They also share the same swaged rear triangle. They do have some key differences.

One major difference is the shape of the fork legs. In the first generation, a fork stander was placed higher on each fork leg. This allowed the fork and bike to fold down while still maintaining a straight ride.

Later versions of the Master were redesigned. The gussets at front of the bike were machined in order to eliminate cracking. These frames were also fitted with more refined chainstays. Non-drive side dropouts were instead brazed on, but they were offset.

The second generation USA Haro Master was manufactured by Torker BMX in Fullerton. It was very similar to the original 1983 model. A number of features were introduced, such as swept dropouts, tapered seat stays, and double s-bend chain stays that fed into a standing platform in the rear dropout.

Another major change was the introduction at the front of the Master a fully welded Gusset. This not only reduced the chance of cracking but also allowed the Master to have a slight weight advantage.

The 1986 models were the most desirable of all the era's models. While many of these bikes were based on the 1986 model, the spec was adjusted for the cost of the 1986 frame. The Master had a mast with a single seat, unlike the FST or Sport.

The Haro Master was available in three colors. Neon Green was the team's issue. You could also choose from blue or gray. Haro Master came in two sizes, just like Sport and FST.

The 86 "Master" was a very collectible bike. The bikes were awarded to all three team riders: Ron Wilkerson (Dave Nourie), Brian Blyther (Brian Blyther), and Ron Wilkerson (Ron Wilkerson). Some bikes came with only the rear triangle. Other models had serial numbers beginning in 1985.

When it came time to reissue both frames, Haro decided to make them using the era-correct manufacturing processes. In this case, they used locally sourced raw materials.

FAQ

What skills do I need for extreme sports?

To become proficient in any extreme sport, you must practice every day.

It is important to practice and learn new moves. This will help you improve.

Before you try anything new, it is important to be familiar with the basics of safety.

Protective gear, such as helmets, should be worn at all times. You must keep in the sight of others.

Stunts should not be performed without a spotter. A spotter is there to supervise you while performing your stunt.

Where do extreme sports come from?

Parachuting is the origin of extreme sports. Parachuting was developed during World War II. 1942 was the year that saw the first parachuting jump.

Parachutists jumped from airplanes and gliders. They flew at high speed to the ground. Then they opened their parachutes.

Parachute jumps can be dangerous. These events saw many parachutists die. Paragliding gained popularity after the war.

1948 was the year of the first paraglider flight. It took place near Lake Garda (Italy). Since then, paragliding has continued to grow in popularity. Today, paragliding is enjoyed by thousands every year.

Parachuting differs from paragliding in one key way. Para-gliders instead of landing on the ground, land on water.

What are some extreme sporting activities?

Here are some extreme sporting events.

  • BASE jumping -- This is the most dangerous extreme sport. BASE stands for building antennae, span and earth. It involves jumping off a rock and parachuting down using a parachute. Before BASE jumpers can attempt this stunt they must pass rigorous testing.
  • Climbing -- Climbing can be considered an extreme sport. Climbing involves climbing trees, cliffs and rock faces. Protective gear is often worn by climbers to prevent falls.
  • Freestyle skiing -- Freestyle is considered to be the ultimate extreme sports. Freestyle skiing mixes snowboarding and ice-skating. Freestyle skiing requires speed, agility and balance.
  • Paragliding -- Paragliding can be described as a form of parachuting except that paragliders are able to fly through the air and not fall to the ground. Paragliders are usually launched from mountainsides. They then steer the plane using ropes tied to the wings. The pilot will pull the rope that is attached to his harness to help him land. The parachute opens automatically.
  • Surfing -- Surfers use waves of water to travel along a sandy beach. Surfers stand up while surfing. The board is used as a surfboard. The board allows the surfer propel himself forward. When the wave recedes, he paddles back out into deeper water.
  • Snowboarding -- Another extreme sport is snowboarding. Snowboarders use specialized boards to glide down hills. To secure their feet to the boards, they also use special bindings. Snowboards usually come equipped with wheels so riders can roll down slopes more easily.
  • Skateboarding -- This is a combination skateboarding and rollerblading. Skaters use unique skateboards in order to navigate streets with obstacles like rails, ramps, and even subways. Skateboards are used in place of rollerblades.
  • Skiing -- The oldest form of winter sport is skiing. The word ski originally meant "snowshoe." Skiing is still a popular way to get some exercise.

There are many types of skiing today, which is a far cry from when the sport was first introduced.

You can choose from cross-country skiing or alpine skiing.

Alpine skiing is the most difficult. Cross-country skiing can be more accessible. Downhill skiing, however, is the easiest. Freestyle skiing is a combination of all three.

What companies are most likely to sponsor extreme sports?

Sponsoring extreme sports events, like BMX racing, skating, and snowboard competitions, is a lucrative business venture that often involves large corporations. They also tend to be active in their local communities. For example, Coca-Cola sponsors many local sporting events and other activities throughout North America. Coca-Cola also supports youth camps and programs at the local, national, and international levels. Coke sponsors the annual Coca-Cola Rock N' Roll Marathon in New York City. Around 100,000 runners come from all walks of the world to participate in this event.

  • Approximately 50% of all wakeboarders have been participating in the sport for 1-3 years. (momsteam.com)
  • Boxing— 90% of boxers suffer brain damage over their careers, and this is not surprising in the least, considering that they are throwing punches at each other's heads. (rosenfeldinjurylawyers.com)
  • Landscaping and grounds-keeping— according to government labor statistics, about 18 out of 100,000 workers in the landscaping industry are killed on the job each year. (rosenfeldinjurylawyers.com)
  • Nearly 98% of all "frequent" roller hockey participants (those who play 25+ days/year) are male. (momsteam.com)
  • Overall participation has grown by more than 60% since 1998 - from 5.9 million in 1998 to 9.6 million in 2004 Artificial Wall Climbing. (momsteam.com)
